Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered

all mixed up....

This week I received a piece of really sad news.. one of my poly mates' wife was diagonsed with cancer about a month back and passed on early in the week.  The news came as a real shock as I would not expect any of my peers to bring me such news.... not at this age!  I am not aquainted with my friend's wife but have met up with him on several ocassions after we left poly.... mostly during planned group outings or weddings. 

I spent the day feeling really sad and thinking about my own family and how blessed I am.  We always take it for granted that people we love will always be there around us.  But in reality... we all know that anything can happen to anyone at anytime.  This friend's wife must have been my age or younger... she must have fought bravely for the 1 month that she knew about her cancer and even at such a young age... the disease eats you up.  It's crazy just thinking about it.  I cannot even begin to imagine how my friend must be feeling now... to lose his wife at such a young age.  Uggh i feel sad thinking about it again.

Remember to give your loved one a hug today and tell him/her you love him/her ya?

On another note.... im finally going to start brewing up ideas for next month's workshop.  Judging from the fact that it takes me several weeks to complete the layouts.... i better start now. :)  I finally have a pocket of time to begin work.  Wish me luck there eh?

La Doce Vita

La Doce Vita - Itallian for ' The Sweet Life ' . :)  Several weeks ago, my family decided to put a list of cuisines from around the world into a bag for a weekly drawing.  Whatever cusine that was drawn out would be the choice cuisine for the following Sunday.  My family meets every Sunday for tea and dinner.  It's been a family tradition for many many years and we all make it a point to spend Sunday afternoons/evenings together.  By family I am not talking only of my immediate family.  The whole gang includes 2 pairs of uncles and aunties, my cousins, grandma, my parents, sister and bro-in-law.  We watch movies, the cousins play board games, we have cakes and coffee for tea (sometimes Jac and I bake somethng for tea), laugh and joke around, have dinner and wine together.

Recently we were having a headache trying to decide what to have each week for dinner.  So we decided to name about 10-12 different cuisines and put them all in a bag for a weekly draw. Last week we had Hokkien... several weeks ago it was German. hehhee... Fun ya?

This week happened to be ITALIAN SUNDAY.... and we had a feast of a dinner.  The menu for the night was:

 

Salad tossed with Balsamic Vinegrette dressing - made by my mom :)

 

Mango Salsa Appetizer - okay this was kinda more mexican then italian but well.. what the hell!  it tasted good - made by my auntie.

 

Lasagna - also made by my auntie.  VERY YUM!

 

Clam Linguine Vongole in white wine sauce with fresh parsley, white buttons and cherry tomatoes - made by my MOM and helped by my sis and I.  OKAY THIS IS UBER UBER YUM.  Not very difficult to make actually... if you want to recipe, just ask me.  You can substitute the Linguine with any type of pasta too... and substitute the clams for other seafood.

 

Beef pizza and another hawaiian pizza.  Okay this is not handmade.. we ordered the pizza. LOL.  But well it goes with the Italian theme.  We also had honey baked chicken that I did not take a photo of.

But what's Italian food without the ever famous TIRAMISU yes???? 

 

 

Jac and I made Tiramisu Cups last night for tonight's dinner.  We soaked the 'sponge fingers' in coffee and rum (Bacardi no less!) ... really really yum if I may say so myself.  HEHE.

Well so yea.... this is our Italian dinner tonight.  COOL EH??

Next drawing is for BRITISH... hmmmmmmm looks like we're in for some Fish and Chips, Roast Beef, Country Bake... etc.  yumz! I can't wait!

On another note.. its CHA WEEK!  Next week is gonna be extremely busy for me.....  are you all geared up for all the new Summer goodies???  hehehee.  Okay I'm gonna sign off for now.  Till my next update -  have a great week ya???

Just for Laughs..

Was sorting through some photos and came across this taken back in May.  We went to this Korean BBQ joint in East Coast to sample their authentic bbq ribs and kimchi.  Check out the menu.  Cracked me up big time.

See the point that says "Should not be same with pictures above" ???? LOL! What does that mean?  We should not expect the food to look like the images?  Who puts that disclaimer on their menu?  Must be very honest people. HAHA.

However in their defence... the food was superb.  Its at Joo Chiat Road near Astons (the more ex of the 2 Astons along that stretch)
